Not
recommended for transsexual HRT regimens. Danger of liver
toxic reactions too common, often indicated by drug-induced
porphyria. Immediate cessation of flutamide relieves symptoms.
A recent
study in Brazil found that lower doses of flutamide were
just as effective at fighting unwanted hair growth as higher
doses, but posed far less risk of negative side-effects.
Doses as low as 62.5mg/day were found to be just as effective
as 250mg/day had been. This may be something to take into
account for anyone planning to use flutamide as part of
their HRT. [ source: Dermatology

The
transdermal form of delivery has no brand name or commercial
manufacturer. Some people get a compounding pharmacy to
mix flutamide with "Sintov Gel." Most compounding
pharmacies will only put 1% flutamide USP in the gel, which
may not be enough. Some users of these formulatios suggest
that 5% is the most effective amount, but may be hard to
have made at that strength. |
