HORMONE THERAPY: INTERSEX SECTION

<< RETURN TO Table of Contents

Intersex HRT

Certain intersex conditions require additional drugs as part of therapy or have other health considerations specific to the condition. Frankly this subject is so complicated even many Endocrinologists don't know all the ins and outs of the subject which is why this section is so pitifully small.

It is not uncommon for doctors to try a hormone regimen and then repeatedly do lab tests and adjustments until they see the results for which they're looking (essentially "experimenting" with various combinations and dosages on the patient). Some resources on this are available:

PAIS/CAIS HRT - first hand accounts from patients with Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) - usually given to those with Klinefelter Syndrome or other XXY disorders for those who have a male gender identity.

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) - information pertaining to the diagnosis and treatment of CAH patients.
